Official meeting called to Order @19:37 (7:37 pm).

  • MVCCA - Environment and Recreation (E & R) - Alan Ruof. Alan provided a summary to Tamara as he was unable to make the meeting. E & R passed a resolution for an invasive pest management plan in the Collingwood neighborhood Park. The resolution recommends applying for a grant and advertising for volunteers. Also bringing in goats. Will vote on resolution on Nov 20.

  • MVCCA - Planning and Zoning (P & Z) - Ray Novitske. No meeting, so no update.

  • MVCCA - Transportation Committee (TC) - Jason Zaragoza. No follow up on road diet yet until it is approved by VDOT. There are various work projects on RT 1.

  • MVCCA - Public Safety. New Chairperson. Tamara will invite him to join an HCA call early next year. Huntington Club has had interaction with him already. Committee has been dormant for the last year or two.

  • MVCCA - Education Committee - Mark Rogers. Meeting this Monday to talk about boundary issues, cell phones in schools, and any other topics that members would like to address. Jamie asked to talk offline about encouraging school board members to visit PTA meetings at Cameron elementary. Education Committee is meeting in December as well. Mateo, the school board member, joined the Mount Vernon Council meeting recently, and is looking to be involved. Jamie also mentioned that there were 100 new students at Cameron this year, which has made a big impact on resources.

  • HCA President’s Report - Tamara Srader.

    • Looking for time at the Community Center in December to gather as a neighborhood for the holidays. Daphne indicated that her company has the CC reserved on Thursdays, and is not using it, so asked that Tamara reach out if she is having difficulties reserving space.

    • Tamara raised issue of illegal parking on streets between 5 - 8 pm where commercial vehicles are parking overnight.

  • Elections. Held every year in November.

    • President: Tamara Srader

    • Vice President: Mark Rogers volunteered to fill the treasurer roll and therefore that leaves the VP role vacant. Dorothy Edwards was nominated and accepted the nomination.

    • Treasurer: Mark Rogers

    • Secretary: Michelle Arsenault

Members were invited to nominate themselves, and no one spoke up, so the community approved the above slate by unanimous consent.

  • HCA Member Time (if you would like to discuss a specific topic, please email Tamara Srader, HCA president prior to the meeting at president@huntingtononline.org)

    • PTA at Cameron Elementary is holding a food drive before the holidays if folks are interested in donating.

    • The group discussed social gatherings like we used to do - like game nights, potlucks, and the orchard project.

    • Tamara was praised for helping an elderly neighbor get to her polling place on Tuesday night. Doris, of Glendale Ave, who has lived there for 70+ years.

The meeting was adjourned at 20:16.
